Under-prepared and blinded by a sense of destiny, the Terra Nova expedition's leader, Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, finally reached the South Pole. To his horror, the Norwegian team, led by Roald Amundsen, had claimed the pole three days prior. Amundsen had left Scott He had left a tent, some supplies, and a letter to the king
of Norway which he asked Scott to deliver.

The letter was never delivered.
